CREATIVITY

To start us off, I thought it would be cool to talk about creativity, given the fact this whole blog is based on that idea.

In order for any of this post to make sense, we have to come to an understanding of what creativity is. For this, I turned to none other than the good ol’ dictionary…

“The use of the imagination or ideas, especially in the production of an artistic work.”

I don’t know a single person without an imagination. I could stop right there by saying “Well, We all have an imagination, therefore we are all creative!” But let’s go deeper. Why not?!

Creativity is essential for a follower of Christ.

I say this for many reasons. Here are a couple;

  1. We are all made in the image and likeness of God. We were made by the very one who created the world. God dressed the trees with unique shades of green and painted the sky with beautiful colors. God exhibits the pinnacle of all creativity!
  2. We have been given a gift. We have all been given the capability to create things. That is such an awesome gift to have!

I have heard SO MANY people say things like “Oh, I’m so not creative.” or “I’ve never really been the creative type.” But I have to disagree…

Being made in the image and likeness of a creative God, Everyone is creative.

Now, I’m not saying “Just try harder to be amazingly creative!” Not at all.

My main point that I think is so important is: You are creative at least a little bit.

Did you know, creativity is a form of worship?! When we create, we are doing one of the many things that God has made us to do.

In case you are in the boat of  feeling like you really can’t create anything good, here is some encouragement for you 😉: you don’t have to whip out masterpieces. If you create with a heart of worship and gratitude towards God, striving to bring glory to Him, He will love it either way.

And lastly- I thought it could be helpful to have a list of ways that you can be Creative: Music, Art, Writing, Baking, gardening, wood working, Crafting, Photography and SO much more!

What is your creative outlet? Drop it in the comments below!!

I love the new website Eliyah! My creative outlet is definitely music. I love listening to it, worshiping to it and, most of all, singing it! Right now I am on a CeCe Winans kick. She has such an amazing voice and it feels like she is singing her songs directly to God and taking the listener along for the ride. Keep up the great work and I can’t wait for your next post!

  2. What an inspiration, Eliyah! Not only is your work beautiful but the heart behind the work is beautiful and for an eternal purpose. I love photography- capturing the gifts God has given me in a photo that I can look at in awe of Him over and over again and smile at the grace he lavished on me by allowing me to experience that memory is one of my favorite things to do!

  3. This was a cool post! I agree, just switch out God with my deities lol But very good post!

And my creative outlet is…everything lol. Art, writing, music, gardening, farming, photography, baking, cooking, crafting, sewing, looming, fashion designing, and even though I suck at it, woodworking!

And my creativity even travels to dancing, singing and acting lol

  4. I agree Eliyah! Since God is creative and created us as His masterpiece, we can be creative!

I was just thinking that even as I listen and appreciate beautiful music or as I read a magical book that places me right into their Storey-I am being creative! Isn’t that mind blowing!

I can be creative by just placing myself into creative processes that God has designed.

Being a parent, a teacher, and even a friend places me into a creative mindset:)

keep writing -keep drawing -and keep sharing! Looking forward to more “thoughts” about creativity💜 shawn
